THATS CARPY RIGS - Hints and Tips
Swivels and their usages (for terminating a rig)
Any rig will have to be terminated so that it can be connected to your chosen setup, such as a lead clip or helicopter leader. The most common termination method is to have a loop that can then be connected onto a quick change swivel or similar. There are various ways that anglers like to attach the rigs, so we've provided a few swivel options as well. It is important to note that certain items may not work together very well, such as an Anti Tangle sleeve and a flexi swivel. (please see below)
- Swivel
Standard swivels (size 8) are primarily used for lead clip or inline setups. Paired with an Anti Tangle sleeve, it will create a very neat anti tangle setup as the small swivel eye can slide into the AT sleeve.
- Flexi Swivel
Flexi Swivels (size 8) are used for multiple rigs and setups such as "lead clip or helicopter". (Please note that if you select an anti tangle sleeve with a flexi swivel for "lead clip/inline setups" it will not work as good as the sleeve cannot pass over the larger ring unlike a standard swivel and can slip down the hooklink under certain circumstances). This is because the hooklink will be attached to the larger ring to allow the smaller ring to slide inside the lead clip. For helicopter setups the hooklink is attached to the smaller ring to allow the larger one to be attached to the helicopter setup and be able to move easier along the leader/mainline due to the larger ring.
