The Stiff Hinge Rig combines a short chod hook section made with Korda Mouthtrap chod filament.  The hook section is then slightly curved to allow for greater hooking potential when a carp sucks in the hookbait.  The boom section is then made with a choice of stiff hooklink such as Korda Boom or Amnesia.  This allows the hook section to kick away from the lead and slowly settle into position.  If you prefer a different hook pattern such as a Nash Claw or Korda Krank then this will be for you.

The rig has been around for a very long time and has two main characteristics that make it stand out.  The first being the excellent anti tangle properties that is vital in fishing, and secondly, the hooking efficiency it possesses.

The rigs can be used from short to long range, over any lakebed and are virtually tangle free.

The chod sections are made with Korda Mouthtrap.  This can be curved in seconds to be slight or ultra aggressive, depending on your requirements.  The booms are made with Korda Boom or Amnesia.  They're both strong and highly abrasion resistant.

If the rig gets kinked after fighting a fish it can be straightened without steam in just a few seconds using your fingers or two knot pullers.

Tips

When using a popup you will more than likely need to add some putty around the crimp to balance it correctly. The buoyancy of a popup will vary depending on brand and size so it's always worth testing your rig in the margin or a tub before casting out. Ideally you will want the rig to slowly fall through the water so it will sit on top of any detritus or weed.
