- Enhanced Blowback Rig - Korda N Trap
Recommended for best performance - Popup, Wafter, Balanced Bait, Boilie, Snowman
The Blowback Rig is a highly effective all year round rig due to it's ability to use pretty much any hookbait you want.
The rig mechanics are very clever. The bait is attached to a hair that runs along the hook shank via a rig ring. This allows the hook to sit at an aggressive angle and take hold in the bottom lip or scissors when the carp tries to eject the bait.
A wide range or hookbaits can be used and allow the rig to be presented in a variety of ways as well which makes it very versatile. If you want to use a popup you can add some putty to anchor the hook to the lakebed and it will be a perfect popup rig for you.
If you prefer a wafter, simply trim the bait so that it wafts just above the hook which should be flat on the lakebed. If you prefer a single boilie, snowman or pellet then that is achievable too.
As most hookbaits can be used, it can give you more options when you're on the bank and allow your rig to be cast onto different spots whilst maintaining excellent presentation.
To further improve the rig, we've incorporated OMC aligners and matching hookbeads that not only offer greater visual attraction but also enhanced hooking potential.
Whatever your preference you can have total confidence in this rig and know that it simply does not let you down when it matters most.
Key Rig Features & Benefits
Korda N Trap is perfect for this rig, it's not only solid and abrasion resistant but blends in great with many lakebeds, making it very difficult to detect.
Lead Setup - Ideally used with a lead clip setup.
Terminated - The rig will have a loop with a figure of eight knot. Solid and strong.
Anti-Tangle - The coated hooklink will always kick the hook away from the lead whether cast or dropped from a boat.
Reset properties - In the event of an aborted take, the rig will reset itself, ready for the next bite.
Exceptional hooking properties - The aggressive angle the hook sits at allows it to take hold almost instantly.
Tips
When using a popup you will more than likely need to add some putty to anchor the rig to the lakebed. The buoyancy of a popup will vary depending on brand and size so it's always worth testing your rig in the margin or a tub before casting out. Ideally you will want the rig to slowly fall through the water so it will sit on top of any detritus. The same goes for wafters, ensure they sit correctly and trim the hookbait so that the hook sits flat and the bait hovers just above it. I always take a small tub and balance my hookbaits in that as it's quicker and easier than doing in the edge. Spending the extra few minutes will make all of the difference in catch rates.
To stop the hookbait moving up the hair (common with pellets) and spoiling the presentation, you can use a float stop and trap the bait between it and the boilie stop.
