The Claw / Parrot Rig is perfect for utilising a bottom bait straight out of your boilie or pellet tub.
The hair is trapped close to the bend of the hook nearest the hook point with some Nash blowout tube. The rig may look a bit clumsy or ineffective but add a bottom bait and you will see how truly effective the rig mechanics are.
To prove the point, run the rig over your palm without a bait and it will glide over it without the hook turning. Now add a hookbait and try the same test again. You will now see how quick the hook wants to flip and take hold. Truly devastating.
Although not need, to further boost this, we can add a line aligner to extend the shank and give more hooking potential to different hook sizes.

Tips
A glugged pellet like in the picture is great for this rig, oily, high attraction and allows the rig to do it's job when a carp gets too greedy. To be honest, any heavy bottom bait will work great with this rig so it's all about personal hookbait preference.
