- Surface Rig - Korda Kruiser Control
Recommended for best performance - Popup, Wafter, Balanced Bait, Bottom Bait
The Surface Rig will come into it's own in the warmer months when the water temperature rises and the fish start cruising on the surface so a change to this tactic will definitely catch you more fish than fishing on the bottom.
Surface fishing can be one of the most frustrating yet most enjoyable tactics to try but on those hotter days when the carp are eating everything in sight the takes can be savage and relentless.
5 to 6 foot is a good length hooklink so that there is a good separation between the controller float and the hookbait.
The hooklink will be Korda Kruiser Control in 12lb which is an amazing floating hooklink and one i've personally used for years.
Whatever your preference of hookbait, get your rig out there and engage in the summer carnage.
Key Rig Features & Benefits
Casting weight - A surface controller will be used to cast the rig out into the lake. Ensure to get the correct weight.
Terminated - A figure of eight loop is added which allows the rig to be quickly added to your controller QC swivel.
Anti-Tangle - Make sure to trap the line just before the rig hits the water so that the hooklink will straighten out.
Savage bites - Surface fishing takes can be carnage, the carp will not realise what's happened until it's too late.
Hookbait - Dog biscuits are used a lot but as long as it floats the carp will eat it.
Tips
To help the hooklink stay more buoyant, after a few uses you can simply rub some vaseline up and down the hooklink which will instantly stop it from slowly sinking.
