- Combi Multi Rig - (Slip D) - Darrell Peck Style
Recommended for best performance - Bottom Bait, Wafter, Popup
The combi multi rig combines both a stiff memory free boom section and a supple natural acting braid section that allows the hookbait to move freely up and down the D section on the hook shank. We use a line aligner instead of tubing which adds to the hooking potential and aids the hook in flipping instantly. When a carp picks up the hookbait and tries to blow it out, the suppleness of the slip d section allows the bait to separate from the hook and help the hook prick the bottom lip. This combination creates a rig that is very difficult to eject and is devastating when put amongst the carp.
We offer various colour booms which are all extremely strong and stealthy and should cover all of your bases in regards to the lakebeds you fish over. These rigs can be used from short to long range and are virtually tangle free. If you do happen to have an aborted take, they also have excellent reset properties due to the stiff boom section so you can have confidence that your rig is well presented for the duration it's in the water. The rig is also very versatile as you can use a whole range of baits to suit your chosen tactics. The combi rig is truly a rig for all waters and situations.
Key Rig Features & Benefits
All of our booms are made with 25lb Amnesia with the exception of our camo fleck which is closer to 50lb.
They're not only solid but highly abrasion resistant whilst maintaining a similar diameter to Korda Boom.
If the hooklink does happen to get kinked after fighting a fish it can be straightened without steam in just a few seconds using 2 knot pullers. We also use 16lb fluoro hooklink as an alternative option.
Lead Setup - Suitable for both lead clip and helicopter setups (select the relevant swivel)
Crimped at both ends - this adds strength and neatness over a knot. 16lb line will be a figure of eight knot.
Anti-Tangle - The boom will always kick the hook away from the lead whether cast or dropped from a boat.
Reset properties - In the event of an aborted take, the rig will reset itself, ready for the next bite.
Quick change - the hook section can be replaced due to it being loop to looped on so no need to throw the rig once the hookpoint gets damaged.
Tips
When using a wafter you may need to trim some of it with scissors or balance with some putty or lead shot. Ideally you will want the hook to be laying flat on the lakebed with the hookbait hovering just above it. The buoyancy of a wafter will vary depending on brand and size so it's always worth testing your rig in the margin or a tub before casting out. Ideally you will want the rig to slowly fall through the water so it will sit on top of any detritus.
Subsequently, if you're using a popup you will more than likely require some putty to make sure the popup is anchored to the lakebed. As above, it's always good practice to check your rigs before they're cast out into the lake to ensure they sit correctly.
