- The Lock - D Rig
Recommended for best performance - Wafter, Balanced Bait, Bottom Bait
The D Rigs are a very effective rig from the fluorocarbon range.
As the bait is not attached to the hook shank, it allows the hook point to face downwards. When the bait is sucked in, the carp will try to eject it but only the bait will move and the hanging hook point will then catch hold in the bottom lip. When the carp then panics and runs, the rig will pull tight to the lead, driving the hook deeper into the carps lip. This is aided by the stiffness of the hooklink and the in-turned eye of the hook.
With a range of hooklink colours to choose from, you can ensure that your rig will be well presented and hidden from the view of any passing carp.
Add your chosen hookbait and have total confidence that your traps are primed to nail any greedy carp.
Utilisting the amazing Lock hook pattern, the D Rig will be able to perform to new levels. The lock hook was in testing for a few years and the feedback has been nothing short of spectacular. It's aggressive hooking mechanics are attributed to having the dynamics of a curve shank, flat base, apex corner, exaggerated large gape and extra sharp beaked hook point. The lock simply takes hold and stays there.
To compliment the rig we've also added a selection of OMC aligners and matching hookbeads. This will allow you to create different specs to suit your lake or baiting requirements.
Whatever your preference you can have total confidence in this rig and know that it simply does not let you down when it matters most.
Key Rig Features & Benefits
We have a variety of Fluoro hooklinks which range from 16lb to 18lb depending what is selected.
We also have different colour options from Clear, Camo Fleck to Camo Green. They're not only solid but highly abrasion resistant as well. All of the hooklinks can be straightened without the need of a kettle if the rig gets kinked after fighting a fish. Two knot pullers are ideal for this.
Lead Setup - Suitable for both lead clip and helicopter setups.
Knotted - Figure of eight knots are used which are ideal and extremely strong.
Anti-Tangle - The hooklink will always kick the hook away from the lead whether from a cast or dropped from a boat.
Reset preoperties - In the event of an aborted take, the rig will reset itself ready for the next bite.
Hooking potential - The rig mechanics allow the hook to flip extremely quick and take hold. High capture rates are common.
Tips
When using a wafter you may need to trim some of it with scissors or balance with some putty or lead shot. Ideally you will want the hook to be laying flat on the lakebed with the hookbait hovering just above it. The buoyancy of a wafter will vary depending on brand and size so it's always worth testing your rig in the margin or a tub before casting out. Ideally you will want the rig to slowly fall through the water so it will sit on top of any detritus. It's worth spending an extra few minutes perfecting your hookbait and know that it is out in the lake doing the best job it can.
