- Illusion D Rig - Tom Maker style
Recommended for best performance - Wafter, Balanced Bait
The short D Rig is a slight alteration to the well known IQ D Rig. It has a very inconspicuous wafter presentation and can be used with a variety of hookbaits.
As the bait is not attached to the hook shank, it allows the hook point to face downwards. When the bait is sucked in the carp will try to eject it but only the bait will move and the hanging hook will then catch hold in the bottom lip. When the carp then panics and runs, the rig will pull tight to the lead, driving the hook deeper into the carps lip. This is aided by the stiffness of the hooklink and in-turned eye of the hook.
The hooklink will be available in camo fleck and camo green which will blend in perfectly with most lakebeds. The extra camouflage will definitely aid in not spooking the fish and make it very difficult for them to detect your trap.
Add your chosen hookbait and have total confidence that the rig will do the rest when you get a bite.
Key Rig Features & Benefits
Our fluorocarbon hooklinks are made with 16lb - 20lb breaking strain, depending on the selection made.
We have a variety of colours from clear, camo green and camo fleck.
All of the hooklinks can be straightened without the need of a kettle if the hooklink happens to get kinked after fighting a fish. Two knot pullers are ideal for this.
Lead Setup - Suitable for both lead clip and helicopter setups (select the relevant swivel)
Knotted - Figure of eight knots are used which are ideal and extremely strong.
Anti-Tangle - The hooklink will always kick the hook away from the lead whether cast or dropped from a boat.
Reset properties - In the event of an aborted take, the rig will reset itself, ready for the next bite.
Hooking potential - The rig mechanics allow the hook to flip extremely quick and take hold. High capture rates are normal.
Tips
When using a wafter you may need to trim some of it with scissors or balance with some putty or lead shot. Ideally you will want the hook to be laying flat on the lakebed with the hookbait hovering just above it. The buoyancy of a wafter will vary depending on brand and size so it's always worth testing your rig in the margin or a tub before casting out. Ideally you will want the rig to slowly fall through the water so it will sit on top of any detritus.
