The Withy Pool Rig can be used with a variety of hookbaits, making it very versatile.

The rig is essentially a german rig but with a withy adapter which converts it into a completely different style of rig that gives it the ability to be cast onto many different lakebeds.

This is perfect for fishing over choddy bottoms as well as harder bottoms.  Once a carp picks up your hookbait the hook will take hold and very rarely looses it's grip due to the exceptional hooking properties.

Use as a single hookbait rig in the winter when bites are hard to come by and the single bait approach can work best, or over a bed of bait at other times of the year when you will get more joy with that tactic.

Whatever your preference you can have total confidence in this rig and know that it simply does not let you down when it matters most.

Tips

When using a wafter, ensure it sits correctly by trimming the hookbait so that the hook sits flat on the lakebed and the bait hovers just above it.  I always take a small tub and balance my hookbaits in that as it's quicker and easier than doing in the edge.  If you're using a popup, make sure to check as you will more than likely need some putty to anchor the hooklink to the lakebed.  Spending the extra few minutes will make all of the difference in catch rates.
