Product details of

-  Gillhams Carp and Small Predators Rig

Recommended for best performance - Pellet, Boilie, Dead Bait

This is the exact rig that was used by us on our trip to Gillhams Fishing Resort in Thailand.   (click here - Actual Rig spec used at Gillhams)

The hair rig we used there is simple and highly effective and will catch most of the fish that swims in there.

The rig is 8 to 12 inches long and has a really large loop to allow you to loop to loop the rig and solid bag onto the swivel that is on the end of the mainline.  The little tag end then allows you to quickly remove the rig when you want to change to a new one.  (simply pull the tag end and the rig will come loose to reverse the loop to loop process - such a simple but clever trick).

As you can see on the pictures, the rig is simply pulled through  a solid bag and that's perfect to catch a lot of fish.

Simply add a pellet, boilie or wafter/popup and way you go.  I chose to make them slow sinking by using some cork along with my 12mm hookbait.  There is no need to over complicate the rigs with certain types of fishing.

The fish are huge, eat loads and are easy to catch when they're on the feed so you just want the rig to do it's job which is to catch hold and stay there.

Along with an inline or running setup, this will do the trick all day

Just remember to set your clutch or bait runner correctly as the takes will be savage.

We caught loads of Siamese Carp, the biggest was 140lb, Chao Phraya catfish to 160lb, Alligator Gar to 70lb, Red Tail Catfish to 50lb, Arapaima to 90lb, Sorubim Catfish, Pacu.

For the setup in predators we also have Catfish Pro Catlink XT which will land anything that moves in most waters.  Strong enough to take down the biggest Mekong catfish.

Key Rig Features & Benefits

Korda Arma Kord (50lb) is more than strong enough to tame most fish.

Lead Setup - Running or inline setups are best.
Terminated - The rig will have an extra large loop with a figure of eight knot. Solid and strong.
Anti-Tangle - The stiff hooklink will aid in this but with a lot of weight on the rig, tangles very rarely happen anyway.
Strength - The hooklink is super strong and more than enough to tame even the biggest fish.
Savage bites - Don't forget to set your clutch / bait runner correctly as all your gear will end up in the lake otherwise.

Tips

If you want to popup you baits then a fox foam ball is great.  I personally used them with a dead bait kebab and it would then popup from the lead which was how I got my Alligator gar bites.  Another is to top a chunk of meat with one and it will sit like a snowman presentation.  Make sure to have some straws handy.  Cut sections of them to the height of your bait and then push a piece through it.  You can then thread your hair through the straw which will stop the hair cutting through the meat when the rig is cast out.  I caught all sorts of predators with this setup and it is so simple, highly effective and quick to rig up as well.  (pics showing that on a rig is above)
